This talk was delivered in 2006 at the annual ISRA Conference. Class deals with the rules of fasting from the perspective of the Maliki School of Jurisprudence, based on the famous text of the Moroccan scholar, Imam 'Abd Al-Wahid Ibn 'Ashir.

This lecture is a brief summary of "The Attributes of God" (Amalpress). Ustadh Abdullah Ali speaks about the fundamental difference between the understanding of Ash'aris and Salafis regarding the 'Attribute Verses' (Ayat al-Sifat). He also points out that there is a difference among the scholars historically regarding the madhhab of the Salaf (Pious forbears) in that the majority of them understand the Minhaj of the Salaf to be different from what modern-day Salafis claim. This lecture covers the foundational principles that led the different Imams to give alternate descriptions to the Prophet's prayer - may Allah grant him mercy and peace. It helps the listener to understand why Muslims pray in different manners; just as it clarifies the statement of the Prophet - may Allah grant him mercy and peace, "Pray as you've seen me pray." (Sahih) The listener will gain a deeper acquaintance with the principles of the Hanafi, Maliki, and Hanbali Schools regarding the prayer and why some of them did not act upon certain hadiths.
