Kitab Iljam al-'Awamm 'an 'Ilm al-Kalam (Steering the Common Folk Away from Speculative Theology) by Hujjat al-Islam Abu Hamid Muhammad Al-Ghazzali is believed to be the last official work of the Imam. This book is timely whereas speculative theology has become a normal indulgement of the common Muslim even though Allah spared the early community (Salaf) from sophistry and polemics. The first half of the book gives guidance and instruction to the lay Muslim on how to preserve the purity of his faith, while the rest of the book is directed mainly at the learned community and directs them as to what type of discussions should and should not be held with the unlearned. This excellent work is a fitting contribution and lasting legacy of the Imam, and we hope to complete the publication of this work before the end of this year (2007). This work is even more important and more pertinent than Ustadh Abdullah bin Hamid's "The Attributes of God." Be on the look out for this one!
